Painted Bar Stables is located in the Finger Lakes Region (FLX) of Upstate, NY. This area is well know for it’s rolling hills, long glacial lakes and abundant wineries. In addition we also are home to the only National Forest in New York State: the Finger Lakes National Forest.
Multi-day trips are held in the Spring, Fall and on demand out of our location. On these rides we provide safe mounts and guides to take you through woods, grazing lands and over hills with lakes views traversing the entire length of the Finger Lakes National Forest.
Overnight options include campsite camping at the Backbone Horse Camp, rough camping at our Elkins Horse Park, and fully furnished cabins at Mill Creek Cabins – or a combination of them all!
We furnish horses, tack, food, beverages, and all camping supplies. We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bag but we do have some for loan. Ask us about joining another trip for a lesser rate.
All pack trip riders must pay in full to hold their ride. The full price includes at 50% deposit which is non-refundable, but are transferable to another ride if the ride is canceled 7 days prior to the pack trip, or if we are able to find another rider to take your reservation.
On demand overnight pack trips are scheduled on Monday through Thursday during peak season only as weekends are reserved for the multitude of riders looking to do our shorter trail rides. Exceptions can be made for larger groups with scheduling issues.
Weather related deposits are only refunded if the ride is canceled by our staff.
